- Static mapping on heterogeneous architectures (Other) [in progress]
Description: With the advent of multi-core, multi-processor, massively parallel systems, resource allocation models have to take into account the heterogeneity and hierarchy of communication between processing units so as to achieve good load balance. Unlike traditional graph partitioning algorithms, static mapping takes this data into account. It allows one to weight the vertices and edges of the target architecture graph onto which process graphs are mapped. Unfortunately, the creation and the handling of such target graphs can be tiresome for the end user. We have designed and implemented in the SCOTCH static mapping package several target architecture handling features. The aim of these experments is to measure the benefits of these features for two applications (HIPS and PaStiX) running on Grid'5000 platform.
