Comparison of Vlasov-Poisson solvers (Application)

This experiment is performed within the framework of the INRIA CALVI collaboration. This project brings together physicists, mathematicians and computer scientists in order to study plasma physic, the equations coming from it and the large numerical problems that arise when solving these equations and visualizing the result. We currently have two different applications that are able to solve the Vlasov-Poisson system: loss and slv. These two codes use different numerical methods and different parallel methods. The aim of this experiment is to evaluate and compare the behavior of these applications on a large number of processors.
