This page describes the 2.3 version of all variants of reference environments based on Lenny version of Debian distribution for x86_64 machines. It intends to explain how this environment was built and how to use it with Kadeploy.

From this version, Chef is used to generate all variants of reference environments. See the Environment Management page to see the building process of the environment.
This release is also a bug fix to the previous lenny-x64-variants-2.2 environment. The bugs 2857,3259, 3541, 3551, and 3586 were adressed.

This sections intend to highlight the various points you should know about these images.
New variant
A new variant of reference environment is defined: lenny-x64-min-0.8.
This is a debootstrap for Grid'5000.
The minimum of packages possible are installed on it.
Postinstall archives
The postinstall archive is debian-x64-variants-2.3-post.tgz.
variants : base, big, nfs or xen
For lenny-x64-min-0.8, the postinstall archive is debian-x64-min-0.8-post.tgz
Recording environment
Recording environment can be done from a description file. So we create lenny-x64-variants-2.3.dsc:
